Client - Plan International Germany Location - Various cities in Germany Exhibition Space - 9 stations, variable in size Project Type - Traveling exhibition Opening - January 2020 in Berlin Executed for Kunstraum GfK Responsible for project lead, exhibition concept, execution and set-up
This exhibition explores the global links between social deficits, failed development, cultural identity, social challenges, limited education, gender inequality, and inadequate basic services. "Mission 2030" makes the complex issues related to achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) accessible—especially for younger audiences—through engaging interactive stations, offering a virtual journey to Cambodia, Timor Leste, Guatemala, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, and Germany.

The exhibition “Mission 2030” is built on first-hand experiences. To ensure authenticity and respect, the exhibition team traveled to each country, meeting representative protagonists and hearing their stories directly. These realities and struggles are presented with integrity and authenticity, allowing visitors to engage with social and environmental challenges through a deeply human perspective.
The exhibition begins in a conference setting, where visitors take on the role of UN delegates. Each is part of a country delegation and receives a personal identification batch that activates various interactions. Some interactions require group participation, while others function only under specific conditions—such as needing at least two girls to be present—mirroring the dynamics of real-world decision-making necessary to achieve specific SDGs.
Through filmed interviews, personal objects, and collected stories, each country and protagonist represents a specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Their experiences and Plan International's projects that impact their lives bring these global challenges to a relatable, personal level that fosters awareness and a sense of urgency around the issues.
A distinct color scheme and large-format images define each country's station, immersing visitors in the environments encountered during the research trips. Interactive elements at each station transform complex topics into engaging, playful, and educational experiences—making them easier to grasp while maintaining the depth and truth of the issues presented.
