Göttingen Biodiversity Museum
Client – Georg-August University of Göttingen Location – Forum Wissen, Göttingen, Germany Exhibition space – 800 m² (indoor) Project type – Permanent exhibition Opening – 2028 Responsible for exhibition concept, project management, execution and installation
The Göttingen Biodiversity Museum is taking shape as a new venue where nature, science and society engage in a vibrant dialogue. In the run-up to its opening at the end of 2028, what is emerging here is not just a museum, but also an open-ended process – from the university’s collections, through the construction site, to the finished exhibition.

The museum brings the University of Göttingen’s biodiversity research to life for a wide audience – from families and school groups to students and experts. The aim is to spark curiosity about natural diversity, explain scientific concepts in an accessible way, and encourage visitors to get involved themselves.
The exhibition is structured like a walk-through book, divided into chapters: it follows a set route that leads from fundamental questions to more complex interrelationships. Each chapter focuses on a central theme – such as ‘What is an ecosystem?’, ‘What is a species?’ or ‘Why is biodiversity important?’ – and links research questions with specific examples from the collection.
